Karen has 20 years’ experience working as an occupational therapist in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. 13 of those years were spent in home health sector where she focused on Individual care plans and helped patients age in place. Karen enjoyed an interdisciplinary approach to care where she communicated with nurses, doctors, social workers and therapists. In 2021, Karen relocated to Naples, FL, to be near her parents as they moved here full-time. In the end of 2022, Karen started her own homecare agency in SW Florida. While running her agency, Karen spent most of her time meeting clients and families, creating care plans, establishing relationships within the community, and forming a well-run team of caregivers and administrative staff. Karen enjoyed managing each client with the assistance of her team of seasoned nurses. Karen decided to sell the agency in November 2024 after a sudden family loss.
Karen continued to work with clients and care manage. Her background as an occupational therapist promoted a strong background in establishing what types of medical equipment clients would need, the amount of care needed at home, and for how long. Karen would meet client as they were in rehab, perform home safety assessments in their home with help from family members to ensure a safe transition home. Karen communicated with each client’s family members and would accompany clients to and from their doctor appointments, make sure they have groceries and prescriptions filled, and made sure each client had their own comprehensive emergency plan. If a client lived alone, they were signed up for the special needs’ registry in case of evacuation during said emergency and they had a medical alert system in case of an incident.
Karen loves helping her clients live in wherever they call home. Karen became a certified age in place specialist and enjoyed playing and coaching travel softball, which has helped her build a solid foundation of team mentality.
Karen loves sports and enjoys helping female athletes succeed in their game and in life. Karen enjoys rescuing senior dogs (Frankie and Valli) and ensures each one has a loving and safe home. Karen also enjoys cooking and spending time with friends and her dad.
